Congressman Payne is a strong supporter of veterans in his district and nationwide. He has consistently fought to get the East Orange VA Hospital the funds it needs to deliver care to our veterans.  Throughout the pandemic Congressman Payne has also been a steadfast supporter of the essential workers at this hospital, fighting to get them additional pay and benefits as they work to protect vulnerable veterans.  
 

• Secured $445,482,716.40 for Veteran’s services in Essex, Hudson, and Union counties.
   

• Hosts annual Veterans Job Fairs to help connect New Jersey veterans to jobs opening in their communities.
   

• Supported legislation prohibiting copayments for medical care for veterans during pandemic This funding allows the VA to waive copays that would otherwise be charged to veterans for VA healthcare services during the pandemic and reimburse those for veterans who have already submitted payments.
